Lesson Plan Enhancements for Fossils can be used to align to the Washington State Science Learning Standards while teaching the STC unit Rocks & Minerals or the FOSS unit Earth Materials.  The enhancement Earth Changes can be used with the STC unit Land & Water or the FOSS unit Landforms.  The enhancements for the Shrub-Steppe can effectively be used with STC Ecosystems or FOSS Environments.

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has a number of resources on their website for classroom teachers, building principals and those who deliver professional development as they plan to assist school districts in understanding the Measure of Student Progress (MSP), the Washington State Assessment in Science given in the spring of each year a the 5th and 8th grades.

At OSPI you will find Powerful Classroom Assessments, Released Items, and Classroom Assessments a teacher could use with their students.

At OSPI in the right-hand box, you will find the latest information on the MSP itself (Science Assessment Update 2011) and the Test and Item Specifications for each grade level.

Select the Unit Kit for product information, videos, and free sample lessons. You can create a user account to access the 'Premium Content' for additional teacher and student resources. Contact and or Jack Ashton for further assistance.
